At IIHT, Varanasi, we lay down the highest possible technical standards of training to produce professional technocrats to lead the Textile industry in general and Handloom industry in particular. We do undertake Research & Development activities for the sustainable growth of the industry by Techno- economical up-gradation so as to enable it to face the shop floor and environmental challenges.
About Us
The beginning of the Varanasi Institute dates back to 1911 when it was set up as an Experimental Weaving Station. Later on, it was named as Govt. Central Weaving Instt. and kept functioning under the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh after independence till 1956. During its early years, this Institute along with a Research Section was responsible for quite a good number of inventions that have been gradually adopted by many centers of the Handloom Industry in UP as well as in other States.
