Dyeing & Printing Lab

The dyeing lab is well equipped with water baths for dyeing practice and laboratory models of Roto Dyer (to dye 18 samples at a time) , Hand operated padding mangle, High temperature High Pressure beaker dyeing m/c, Hydro extractor, Winch dyeing m/c, Beam dyeing m/c, Padding, Dyeing & Thermo fixation m/c i.e. stente, Soft over flow dyeing m/c, Lab jigger, Lab Winch, to train the students individually as well as in groups so as to gain through knowledge in preparatory and dyeing process. The students will also study the effect of temperature pH and time with respect to the dyeing process using different classes of dyeing. The printing lab is equipped with number of wooden blocks, screens to train the students individually in printing cloth samples by using different styles of printing.

Printing lab

The Students are also trained in various techniques such as Tie and dye, Batik, Kalamkari, Stencil, Spray and Metallic Prints, with various classes of dyes on different type of material. The students prepare record of their dyed and printed samples of yarn and fabrics respectively with recipes and procedures. The Processing lab has two sections namely Dyeing lab & printing lab.The basic operation of processing , Dyeing and finishing process were carried out in dyeing lab. It is provided with sufficient water pipe line , gas pipe line & with lab. m/c-s along with manual operations.

The lab is provided with,

Water bath for working i. e scouring, dyeing, bleaching of small samples.

H.T.H.P. beaker dyeing m/c. for dyeing polyester. Nylon & p/c blend.

winch m/c.

H.T.H.P. Beam dyeing m/c.(demonstration purpose oniy).

Soft over flow dyeing m/c.

Stenter machine.

Cloth Analysis Laboratory

The students are given cloth samples with different weaves, Textures and patterns for extracting the technical details for its reproduction. The Cloth Analysis lab is equipped with tools and instruments such as counting glass ,crimp tester, Beesley’s count testing balance ,GSM cutter with electronic weighing balance.

Textile Testing Lab
Textile Testing lab

Textile Testing lab is established with modern electronic textile testing instruments. The students are allowed to work on these instruments individually to carry out testing analysis of data and test result. The standard of training enables them to get placed in international labs. The list of some important instruments are given below :-

1 Micro Scope- To view the cross sectional and longitudinal views of fibers
2 Baer sorter To analyse the staple fiber length parameters
3 Lea strength Tester To determine Lea breaking strength and CSP
4 Electronic Single yarn strength Tester- For testing tenacity of yarns
5 Drape Meter- For assessing Draping quality of fabrics.
6 GSM cutter with Electronic Balance- For the determination of weight of fabrics in gram per square meter.
7 Abrasion and Pilling Tester- For assessing abrasion and pilling Standards of upholstery materials.
8 Shirley Stiffness Tester- Determination of fabric stiffness by measuring bending length
9 Shirley Crimp Tester- To test crimp percentage of warp and weft yarns raveled from fabrics
10 Shirley Crease Recovery Tester- To measure the crease recovery property of fabrics in degree angle
11 Hot Air Oven- For oven drying of yarn and fabric samples to calculate moisture regain and moisture content.
12 Wrap Reel- To prepare samples for count and lea strength testing
13 Colour Matching Cabinet To match the colour in different source of light
14 Hydralic Bursting Strength Tester. To assess the bursting strength of knitted , Non-woven fabrics etc.
15 Electronic Twist Tester To test the TPI/TPM from the single and folded yarn.

22 Crock Meter To test the rubbing fastness of dyed materials
23 Beesley’s Balance To test count of yarn from small swatches of fabrics
24 Knowle’s Balance To determine count of yarn from cones and bundles

Computer Aided Textile Design (CATD) Lab

Computer Aided Textile Designing is the prime activity of present Textile Industry. CATD is an easy tool to create design and patterns, change designs and patterns, change colour combinations etc.

The CATD Lab is equipped with licensed Paintshop pro version 8 in all the terminals to enable the students to practice figured design creation, design arrangement, design setting (Scanning) etc in respect of Dobby and Jacquard Designs. This design can be simulated to visualize the actual size and colour appearance after weaving. The CATD lab is also provided with licensed version of continental CATD software for designing and graph preparation.

Computer Colour Matching (CCM)

  1. To match and formulate a recipe for a given dyed sample of fabric/yarn/fiber.
  2. To assess the difference between the dyed sample and the reference sample to match accordingly.
  3. To evaluate colour strength and colour properties.
  4. To create the database for colour matching and further reference.
